Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about pricing, IRS authorization, ITIN applications, trucking compliance, and IRS notices.
- USTAXX offers tiered flat-fee plans (Basic and Optimization) so self-employed and 1099 filers know the price up-front, with no per-form add-ons for typical Schedule C, Schedule SE, and multi-state returns. Self-employed filers owe 15.3% in self-employment tax (12.4% Social Security + 2.9% Medicare) on net earnings up to the 2026 Social Security wage base of $184,500, per IRS Schedule SE instructions. USTAXX files electronically as an IRS Authorized e-File provider and serves clients in all 50 states.
- Yes. USTAXX prepares Form W-7 ITIN applications alongside the federal return, so the application and the return reach the IRS as one package. The IRS asks you to allow 7 weeks for a decision, or 9 to 11 weeks if you apply between 15 January and 30 April or from abroad. We support filers from Latin America, South Asia, and Africa with bilingual English/Spanish service.
- Business formation includes Articles of Organization or Incorporation filing in the state of choice, EIN registration with the IRS, operating agreement template, and a S-Corp election (Form 2553) when tax-advantaged. Delaware C-Corp formation is the standard for SaaS founders raising venture capital and carries a $300 annual franchise tax minimum. Registered agent service is $150/year, fulfilling the statutory requirement to maintain a physical in-state address for service of process in every U.S. state.
- USTAXX prepares Form 2290 Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT) for trucks weighing 55,000 lbs or more, IFTA quarterly fuel tax returns across all 48 contiguous states and Canadian provinces, and Form 1099-NEC packages for owner-operator and team-driver fleets. The 2026 HVUT rate is $100 base plus $22 per 1,000 lbs over 55,000, capped at $550 per vehicle. Stamped Schedule 1 is delivered within 24 hours of e-filing.
- Yes. We read the notice against the return, explain what the IRS is actually asking, and prepare the response with the documents that answer it. We do not represent clients before the IRS; if your case needs a representative, that is an enrolled agent, CPA or attorney. Reply by the deadline printed on the notice; missing it can limit your options.
